New Week! New Thoughts! New Book! New Layouts!
It's Monday. Again. Why does this simple word mean so much negativity? Why do I dread it, on Friday, before I've even enjoyed my weekend? I don't know.
But here it is... skulking about, taking over my day with it's negativity. And here I am... letting it! I got some layouts done this weekend. Thankfully. I finally managed to get out of my somewhat self-involved slump. I just could not seem to finish a layout. Once I finished the *Fabulous at 14* one, I whipped through the other one about me in a few hours. I felt much better then. I was scrapbook constipated. lol
Beauregard
Without getting too graphic, I brought Beauregard to the Vet on Friday. My poor baby had to have his anal glands drained. They weren't infected or anything... but he had some *stuff* in there that needed draining. So they said he must have felt relieved. Yay Beau. For those with dogs... he didn't scoot at all (which is the main sign)... but did start to chase his tail. Anyway... all done. If your dog suddenly starts to chase his/her tail.. best to check it out.
Hey! I'm reading a new book series. It's called "Marked", and it's a House of Night novel. I like it. It's fun and mindless reading. Entertaining and very very good. If you're interested, you should check them out. Marked is the first in the series. It's by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. If you decide to read them, let me know how you like them. Or... if you've already read them.. let me know what you think then!
Hi there cardmakers, scrapbookers, crafters and all aroundSweethearts! I have a great way for you to help a wonderful family? Are you game? Well, here are the details. Kristina Proffitt, Jennifer McGuire and Jana Millen have organized a card drive for a sweet little girl named Kate. Here's some information about her: About 6 weeks ago the life of the McRae family changed forever when their precious 5 year old daughter, Kate, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Dad (Aaron) is a pastor in Arizona and he and his wife, Holly have two other children, Will and Olivia. Of course this is devastating for the whole family and many are praying for them. (Go to www.prayforkate.com to learn more about this family and their struggle). Kate has a rough road ahead of her for quite awhile. When you hear their story you will want to do anything you can to help.
And one thing we can do to help is to send cards to Kate and her family to encourage them, give them strength, and let them know how many people are thinking about and praying for them. And the most generous and kind people in the world are crafters so we are having a Cards for Kate Card Drive. Think of how much it would encourage this family to receive cards from all over the world. You can simply send the cards to Kristina Proffitt, and she will then box them up and pay to send them to Kate's parents. (They have already gotten the ok from them.)
The details:
Cards can be for any member of Kate's family:
- Kate (age 5) - The sweet girl who is battling cancer.- Little brother Will.- Bigger sister Olivia.- Mom and Dad, Aaron and Holly.
Cards can be anything cheery, encouraging, supportive, etc. (This family is a family of God, so for all you Christians out there, feel free to share messages of Faith.) Anyone can send a card - even your children!
Please write a message in the card and sign your name and where you are from. On the card envelope, please write the name of who the card is for (Kate, Will, Olivia, Aaron and/or Kate). Also, please don't seal the envelope, as Kate's parents might want to preview cards before the kids see them.
With your cards, please include a piece of paper with your name, address, email address and number of cards. We will keep these for picking out prizes. (See below.)
The cards should be sent to:
Jennifer McGuireCard Drive for KatePO Box 428612Cincinnati, Ohio 45242
Please send the cards to arrive by October 1. This should give enough time for those overseas to play along. As they get enough to fill a box to send to Kate's family, they will send them. This way they don't get them all at once. And since they are having some struggles lately, the sooner they get some cards, the better.
If you want to send more than just a card (such as a gift), please just send directly to the address given HERE! If you want to donate money to Kate's family, please click HERE. If you want to help cover the costs of shipping, feel free to include some money in with your cards. Any money leftover will be donated to the family. (But there is NO need to include money.)
And... how about some prizes as a thank you for participating? For all the cards they get, they will pick random winners for some great prizes. Click HERE for up-to-date prize info. Stuff will be added soon and often. Please keep in mind that winners will be picked based on pieces of paper you include with your cards with your name and info. So, be sure to include it!
I also urge all of my blog readers, if you have a blog, PLEASE post about this card drive on your blog so that we can get a lot of people to help out with this. If you do post about it on your blog, let Kristina Proffitt know. She will draw a name from everyone that says they posted about it and you will get a little something from her for your time. Sound good?
This is a wonderful way to touch the life of a little girl and a family that is going through so much. I pray that you take just a bit of time to make a card, post on your blog, give a donation or even just pray for this family. Thank you for reading this far if you have. As crafters, cardmakers and scrapbookers, our hearts are big... and we can... and often do... make a bit difference in this world! Imagine how this card drive will brighten the lives of this little girl and her family. Don't you want to be a part of it?

It's Monday! What does that mean? Work. Work work work work work.
That's what it means. I'm so sick of work. I want to be a stay at home Mom again. I loved that. And before those of you that work and love it say anything... or those that stay home, say Hey.. we work... I know. I say that I am more suited to that work. While staying at home, I was very involved in my son's life. In his school. In his world. My home was more efficiently run. It was definitely cleaner. We ate better. I was less stress and tired. And I did a TON... of volunteer work. sigh. Anyway. Monday leaves me tired and melancholy at the same time. However... It is what it is. It's noon already, and soon it will be time to go home. lol However... my little boy will already be gone to work. :( School is back in, in a few weeks too. What a short, cold summer it was. September 1 is the first day of school. It feels like summer just started.

What Happened?
Where did the time go? I started to write on this blog, but I never hit *send*. Ugh. Don't know why. It's been a crazy 10 days. And quite frankly folks... nothing much I said would have been anything short of boring.
However... I decided I was going to say it anyway! lol
I HAVE been scrapbooking! So... without further ado... I want to show you something that I did. This is called I Am Disney. It's from a sketch at PageMaps. You can find the sketch here! Lori at Apron Strings has donated one of her beautiful and fun Breadbox kits for this contest! The winner will receive her July kit, which is full of Jenni Bowlin, My Mind's Eye and Bo Bunny goodness (including papers, card stock, die-cut paper, ribbons, flowers, transparency, bling, tickets, brads, stickers etc. etc. etc.) Excuse me? Whew. How fun would THAT be???!!! Anyway... I'll post some more of my **stuff** tomorrow. Make it a great one!

Happy 17th Birthday to my baby boy... Dana Joseph Maximillian Roberts. sigh
17
I'm left to pause at that number. When I think of 17 year olds, I think of children. Young adults, sure... but it's so young! But when I attribute that age to my son... it seems like only yesterday that he was in my arms, dependant on me for his every need. Now, he's so independant, he rarely wants me to do things for him. I routinely hear "I can do it myself, Mom". sigh
Life is both wondrous and marvelous, while just going too fast for my liking. I mean, where did the years go? My little boy, about to enter Grade 12, as an elected Student Trustee for the Catholic Board of Education. About to enter Grade 12, already knowing his life's ambition, the school he wants to attend, and what he wants to do forever. 17. That's the kind of 17 year old he is. I'm glad he's not overly needy, it'll help him as he gets older. But it makes it somewhat tougher because I'm left watching. I'm more on the sidelines now. That's what parenthood is like, as your children get older. You are on the sidelines. They get older, move on up and onward. Find a new life for themselves, and we are left watching and waiting for them to give us some of their spare time. sigh.
I'm full of sighs, aren't I? I'm sitting on the sidelines, waiting for him to need me, or give me some of his time. And that's good. And it's sad. For me.
We invest everything we are and all that we have into our children. It's tough to no longer have to do that.
So.. that's that. Today, though, is a good day. We had the Toronto TV talk show anchor call him on air at 6:30 am, and wake him up today. Just for fun. We're off to dinner with him and his girlfriend tonight. His girlfriend. Yes. I'm getting tickets to go see the Toronto Blue Jays, and I'm pushing him to have a get together next week with his friends, so that they all have time to book off of work. (birthday parties are different at 17)!
Happy Birthday, Dana! I Love You! xoxo

I Owe I Owe.....
Here are some fun pics of my animals, that make our lives so much more fun and interesting. And loving too. Let's not forget that! Pets can bring such joy and love into a home. It astounds me that they offer us so much love and devotion, while expecting almost nothing in return. Beauregard and Jaguar are constantly at each other. They are typical siblings that fight and play and fight and play. Beauregard cannot get enough of that cat. Jag, on the other hand, does frequently get enough of Beauregard!
yada yada yada
I'm back to work today. How many ways can I say that sucks.
Thankfully, it's a short week, cuz i was off on Monday due to Canada's civic holiday called Lord Simcoe Day. What does it mean to most Canadians? A day off. Weren't you paying attention?
I was invited to be a Guest Designer on Candy Shoppe Designs. Check them out!!! I bet you'll like what you see!!!
Some New Stuff
I created some new stuff. I did up a few cards, and the other is a large clothespin for my desk at work.

Disney, on the other hand, is soft, mellow... and a bit of a loner. Disney loves me. He's happiest if he's sitting on the couch directly behind my head... which is wear you see him now... or on the armrest directly beside me, laying down so that he is somewhat on me. Beauregard just likes to be anywhere any of us are. Nothing complicated about that!!!
Have a Great Day!
