Beauregard, the Problematic Puggle of Perpetual Need
meets the word No!
Let me break it down for you. Beauregard sees the cats' tent. He enjoys roughhousing with the cats' tent. I firmly yell... BEAUREGARD. LEAVE IT! And he stops briefly, to look up at me with his "Kill joy" expression. I pick the tent up, and place it back in front of the tv stand. I return to my chair, and that's when I notice Beauregard's Blue Bear is in the tent. I wonder how he's going to handle that, and decide to watch it play out for a few minutes. There wasn't anything good on television.

It's at THIS point, that Beauregard sniffs around for Blue Bear and realizes that HORRORS OF ALL HORRORS... BUT BLUE BEAR IS IN THE "DO NOT TOUCH" CATS' TENT! sigh. (picture my puggle with the sad eyes sighing, cuz he DOES do it. When he does, it's usually followed by a wet snort from his snoz. Anyway. He - once again... goes for the tent. Only THIS time, he does it slowly, hoping I don't notice. He turns the tent slightly, so that the opening is facing to the side, and not towards me. Sticks his nose in there, and grabs blue bear gently, without even touching the sides of the tent.. and proceeds to run to the centre of the floor.

He then sits quietly in front of me, sits blue bear down beside himself and looks at me as if to say... "What? I wasn't doing a single thing but sitting here, this whole time. You didn't see anything did you?"

No. Not me.

Design Team Application!

I tried out for the American Crafts Design Team. I figure I have no chance at making it, but still... I created my project, my 2 layouts, and my card. I couldn't find any AC product at the stores within an hour's drive of me, which was shocking... However... I've had some stock in my stash... so I got busy with what I had. And here is what I submitted...

July 10, 2009

I'm back at work. Summer hours mean that Fridays are half days. I'm happy about that. I'd like to have a day off. Alas... that's not going to happen.

ScrapRoom Organization

I need to organize my scrap room and scrap supplies. I have a number of things that I use to do so. They weren't necessarily made for scrap supplies, but they work just the same. For example:

Peg Board.................... I have it hanging on my wall, and inside my cupboard door. I hang all kinds of things on it. Scissors, packs of things, round tapes, ribbon rings. etc.

Rings..................... These aren't just for book binding. I hang my ribbon on these. They work great, and the ribbon isn't all twisted or bent and folded. It hangs straight down from the top of my peg board.
Lazy Susan.............. I love my lazy susan. I have a ton of stuff in it. There is space for packages of chipboard, words, other fun things. Scissors, pens, markers, cutting tools... you name it.

Cleaning basket...... These have different sections for cleaners, sponges, etc. With a handle to carry it. Inside, I have frames in one section... chipboard in another... and tape and glue runner in yet another.

Magazine holder....... This holds 12 x 12 anything. So I have two of them. One holds layout that I'm working on, along with newsletters and instruction sheets that I'm working with. One holds patterned paper.

Sorters.......... These you find in any office. They are metal or heavy plastic, and sit on a desk. Used to sort. I have various file folders filled with different things. One carries my packages of letters.. One is chipboard... one is thickers... one stickers... one rubons. Etc.

Various plastic drawers...... You know the ones. They come in various sizes. Some stand on the floor... and some tinier ones stand on your desk. I have both. They are filled with whatever. They need to be redone.
Jars and Glass Candy Bins...... Filled with buttons, twine, ribbon etc.

Line and wall hangers......... I have things hanging on my walls. And pinned up on line. Again.. I need to redo these.

Plastic sorting boxes......... Various small dodads are in there. Some are sorted by colour. Some have various things in it... ie blling. Some have letters sorted... AB CD E FG H I JK etc.

Tiny tool box drawers...... These are all over my desk, filled to the brim with my dodads. Chipboard words, letters, eyelets, brads, you name it.

So... what do YOU use in your scraproom. If you have pictures, that would be great too. Just send me a url, and I'll go and take a look.

It's time to sandblast my scraproom. In fact... it's long past that time. Short of having some of you come over and help me in person.... any brilliant or even not-so-brilliant ideas??? Pretty Please???

A Lazy Day Off of Work!

Today, my lovely hubby is off to play golf in Niagara Falls for the day. It's a tournament, so he'll be gone until late this evening. So I've taken the day off of work! Just to laze around. ahhhhhh. Of course, I got up at 5:30 to do some things. I walked Beauregard at 7:10am. Got home at 8:20am. Drank my coffee, am sitting here doing this. Then I need to do dishes, start dinner... (slow cooker... so pre fry the ribs, and prepare some stuff)... Then I need to begin the 6 loads of laundry. I need to strip the beds, toss the comforters into the wash, and begin my downstairs cleaning. I need to walk Beauregard again. I need to wash the floors, clean the bathroom, and vacuum up and down. I need to eat something. I need to sit down and write. I need to walk Beauregard again. I need to continue my deep clean. (the basement... ugh). I will need to prepare the last of dinner. I'll need to walk Beauregard again.
And then my evening.

ahhhhh... a lazy day off of work. Nothing quite like it.

Cuba Mini Book

I did up a minibook for our trip to Cuba in February. I need to take better pictures, but here it is.

A Wedding Layout
I did this layout of me prior to my wedding. I was waiting to go to the Church. I changed the pictures to black and white, and did it mostly in b/w, except for the soft green accents.. Some stickle on the Kaiser wooden butterfly, and the green leaves. The wooden heart has some red stickles on it. I made the paper flowers and leaves out of pp using my Cricut Expression.

MOM! How Could You Let That Happen?!?!

My husband dressed himselfAdd Image today. I was downstairs when it happened. I didn't pay attention. We dropped our son off at work, and hubby got out to grab us a coffee at Tim Hortons. When he did, I was still not paying attention... until our 16 year old son exclaimed... MOM! How Could You Let That Happen?!?! What? I scrambled for an explanation. LOOK AT HIM! He's one big horrific clash!!! Ugh. And then I saw it. My beautiful honey. The man I adore. LOLOL Of course... he doesn't bare the brunt of this fashion disaster. Oh no. That falls squarely upon my wifely shoulders. And I knew it. And by now... it's too late. It is what it is, and we're out the door. We can't return to the closet now. My man is showcasing his fashion sense for the world to see... and it's screaming... MY WIFE DRESSED ME, AND LOOK AT THE MESS SHE MADE. And it is what it is.

How did this become the woman's responsibility? After all, I taught my son how to dress. How am I equally responsible for my man's??? Ugh. But it doesn't matter. I would have to physically follow behind him all day long saying... "He dressed himself" "He dressed himself."

The Milk Commercial

Do they do milk commercials with dogs? I had some cerial, and there was milk left over... and Beauregard helped himself, of course... before I could remove it. Thankfully it was skim milk. He tried to pretend complete innocence, of course. But I figured it out. I have a sixth sense about some things...

Anyone Watch?
The Batchelorette?

I haven't been watching... but watched last night. UGH. There's this guy who is a singer, supposedly. AND he has a girlfriend. His publicist talked him into going on the show, because it would be good publicity for his band. Can you believe it? Wow. He came across as playing games during their date, and knew he was going. So, as he stood in line with the other guys, he says..
"Yeah... I'll be going home. You guys will stay, and I'll be having tons of sex. ???? What a loser. Does he not remember that people are watching him, and he's showcasing what a skanky snake he is?
Harry Potter!
July 15th, and the next installment comes. I can't help it. I've read all the books.... several times. I own all of the movies... and it's right up my alley. I love this kind of story. Makes me happy. Anyone else love Harry?

Books.
Anyone read the Clan of the Cave Bear series By Jean Auel? They are awesome! I highly recommend them. You may have seen the movie of the first book. These books are so awesome. And if you start reading them now, you don't have to wait all those years for the last book "The Shelters of Stone" like the rest of us did. Ugh. It was SUCH a long wait!
and finally...
SCRAPBOOKING!
I'm still looking for someplace to hang my hat... someplace with fun things happening. A warm, friendly community, without drama. I like contests, challenges, crops, etc.
Any ideas??? PLEASE??

Three Guesses!

So.. what do you see when you look at this?

How about when you look at this?

Have a better idea? How about now?

And finally....???

How about if I explain what is happening, and show you the *before* picture? On Canada Day, it was raining, so hubby and I decided to watch the fireworks from our van. We didn't want to join 70,000 wet people in the rain, on wet ground etc. So... there we were. And because we remained INSIDE the vehicle, we brough Beauregard with us. Yes we did. Beauregard, like any smaller dog... just LOVES the sound of loud, unknown bangs. (note, if you please, the heavy sarcasm dripping from those words). As he sat calmly on Gary's lap, half asleep, as it were... wondering why we were sitting, talking quietly in the rain, on a dark street. Wondering, and drifting calmly to sleep. After all. He was locked up securely in an enclosed space with his Mommy and Daddy. Nothing could be better in his little world. Hushed voices, we lovingly looked at our Puggle, who like a naughty child, looks like pure delight when calmly drifting off to sleep. The soft patter of rain was lulling us into a soft and peaceful state. We both rested our heads on the headrest, and waited for the lovely display to begin. Ahhhhh. Life was indeed good.

SMASH

Noises were erupting both inside and outside. Gary and I were scrambling. Scratches were appearing on legs, arms, armrests... coffee was spilt... water bottles were flying... and who knows what was cracking, plopping, pinging, and smashing. And then there were the fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the inside of the van settled down, we stared at each other wide-eyed, and then looked around us, and searched for Beauregard, the problematic puggle of ill repute. There , in the darkness... I saw this....

He'd wedged himself in there pretty good. Not sure what this is... but his big puggle sized fanny wouldn't wedge in.. so what he could sandwich under my chair, he did. The rest, stuck out, quivering and quaking, shivering and shaking.
Yepper. Little dogs and big noises. A match made in Heaven!

Happy Canada Day... yesterday.

I was home from work... and it felt like playing hookey. Here it was Wednesday... and hubby and I were home. ahhhhh. I could get used to that lifestyle. It poured last night, so we didn't go to the park for the fireworks. Instead, we parked in the driveway of our work, which is a few blocks away from the fireworks, and sat in the car. So... It wasn't as good.. but it was nice. Since we were going to be in the car... we brought Beauregard. Well... tomorrow, I'll post the pictures of him. Um... of half of him. The half that was sticking out from under my seat. Too fat to get the rest of him under there, he was wedged in pretty good. Let's just say that Bearegard doesn't like big bangs.

Layouts

Layout. I had this picture of my son from last summer. One of his friends took it, and I love it. The sun that is on him, is a natural element. It's not fabricated in any way. It was beaming through an opening in the trees. It looks like it's almost bouncing off of him. I love it.
So this is the layout that I made from it...

Altered Canvas - A Gift

I did this canvas for the family of the little Grade 9 girl who was killed 2 weeks ago at my son's school. It's a size 12 x 16, I think. I loved this picture of her.
